In Memory of Dave Williams

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our Chief Officer, Dave Williams, in November 2025. Dave was a wonderful, kind, caring, witty and inspirational man. For 25 years he worked tirelessly on behalf of carers in Manchester, building an organisation grounded in the values he held dear: kindness, generosity, integrity and compassion.

We will honour him by continuing the mission he championed so passionately.

A Tireless Advocate for Carers

Dave’s dedication to carers was unwavering. As one colleague in the voluntary sector fondly recalled a conversation he witnessed:

Oh Dave, all you ever talk about is carers.” “Too bloody right I do!

He ensured carers were seen, heard and valued. His leadership shaped policy, strengthened partnerships and helped countless people across the city. He guided the Forum through change and challenge, always keeping carers at the heart of every decision.

A Leader of Integrity, Warmth and Honesty

Dave was admired not only for his professional achievements but for the person he was. He listened deeply, offered wise counsel, and never shied away from telling the truth when it mattered. His humour, generosity and steady presence made him a trusted colleague and a cherished friend.

A Personal Legacy of Love and Devotion

Dave’s commitment to carers was rooted in personal experience. He was a devoted carer to his late husband. Their relationship, full of love and resilience, touched many who knew them.

His Legacy Lives On

Dave leaves behind a stronger, kinder and more connected community. The Forum stands as a testament to his vision and his values. We will continue to support carers with the same dedication he showed every day.

In his memory, our team will be fundraising to support carers’ breaks — a cause close to Dave’s heart. We will be running the Great Manchester Run together on Sunday 31st May 2026, with all donations going directly to provide breaks for carers. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and our newsletter for updates on our fundraising (and training!) progress.
